What is OBD-II?

OBD-II is a standard used in modern vehicles to monitor the engine, emissions, transmission and other electronic systems. When a fault is detected, the vehicle stores a diagnostic trouble code or DTC.

Code categories

  • P — Powertrain: engine and transmission.
  • B — Body: body, comfort and interior systems.
  • C — Chassis: suspension, brakes and steering.
  • U — Network: communication between electronic modules.
